We are proud to announce that we are now offering Veeam Cloud Connect – Backup as a Service (BaaS).
MazingTree Cloud Connect is a cost effective and secure backup solution for companies that need to protect their valuable data. The service allows regular scheduled and monitored backups to be taken from a PC, Physical and Virtual servers.
Veeam Cloud Connect links seamlessly into your Veeam Backup and Replication software, or for standalone machines, the simple Veeam Agent for Windows. When you sign up we provide the necessary details and software. It’s a very simple process and we can sort it all out for you, and include monitoring and email alerts.
Generally we offer this to our existing Support customers, but also to other companies requiring Veeam Cloud Connect Backup.
We have a bundle that suits a typical VMWare Virtual environment giving 1TB storage for up to 3 Virtual Servers (also requires Veeam Backup and replication software) for £49.95 + VAT/Month
Lower cost options for single PCs and Servers, from £19.95 + VAT per month for up to 250GB Storage
250GB Bundles of data storage are £10 + VAT extra
We can now offer FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) and also FTTP (Fibre to the premises) if these services are available for your physical location –
Please call us for a quote, and to discuss the options available to you. If you would like to check for yourself what broadband we can supply to your premises please click here:
Click below, or see the Broadband Tab for more information on Broadband supply.
FTTC gives speeds of up to 80Mb/s, with an up to 20Mb/s download. This is dependent on the distance your premises are from the local Openreach cabinet in your area.
FTTP gives speeds of up to 330Mb/s. We have several customers using FTTP in Cornwall where a few select areas have access to this technology.

4G technology offers good excellent speeds and with generally excellent coverage from EE in the South West we can now offer this technology as a viable alternative where existing Broadband installations are either not possible, very slow, or excessively expensive.
With speeds of 20 to 30Mb/s or more 4G, also known as LTE, offers a faster internet connection than is available with ADSL2+ and in some cases better than Fibre Broadband where long telephone lines can sometimes mean very slow speeds. This is often true in rural areas, but many Business Parks in Plymouth and other paces one would expect decent connectivity also have poor connectivity. This is because the Fibre rollout focuses on number of connections against funds committed to a project, and a business appears to have no more weighing than a single home connection when it comes to prioritising the FTTC rollout. In this respect business parks without much housing nearby can have a low density of connections per cabinet compared to a densely populated residential area. Also businesses that are directly connected to an exchange are currently out of luck when it comes to FTTC upgrades, so many businesses in the city centre area only have access to ADSL2+ technology.
We have business grade routers that take a 4G sim card, with good quality antennas and extension cables, that really make the the most of the available 4G signal. The 4G connection can be used as a backup for failover or as your primary connection.
With prices for SIM cards now down to £25/Month for 25GB of data on a 30 day contract, and £50 for 50GB on 24month contracts, this compares favourably with the cost of a Fibre broadband connection, which would cost around £50 per month by the time you weigh in the cost of the Telephone line and the FTTC connection.
The connections perform well, and allow for fast browsing and even HD Video streaming, although that would soon eat into your monthly allowance, so we recommend 4G for business use where staff are generally using email and carrying out online work, without large data needs.

0870 and 0845 numbers are used to create a Non geographical number but the caller will pay more than the standard national rate for the use of these services.
For 0870 it is often likely the destination will make money from the call and they are often very expensive.
0845 numbers tend to be provided to companies for free, or for a small monthly fee, but the company selling the number makes a small amount from the inbound call. With 01 and 02 (and 03 Charity numbers) then the rate is the standard UK National rate.
One way of saving money on telephone calls is to avoid using 0870 and 0845 by searching for an alternative using ‘Say No to 0870’. THis also listes 0845 and other premium rate numbers.
Just type in the number you have without any spaces, and for many larger companies there will be the underlying landline number. Clearly if you don’t get through then you should try the original number given as the 0870 and 0845 may have been redirected to another landline over time.
One example is Barclays Bank, where the 0845 number given can be replaced by a landline but also there is 0800 Freephone number – even better!
The reasons for using 0845’s are valid. Companies often wish to have a non geographic presence to help them move office in the future, or perhaps so that they can redirect the number, but with recent changes in the industry 01, 02, and 03 numbers can be held in the “cloud” and redirected to a landline, or even better to a VOIP phone system so that callers pay a reduced rate and there is no inbound cost for the owner of the number.
If you want to know more about number mobility, or you are thinking of moving office and need to take your number with you to the new office location then please get in touch with us.

Fibre 50 – £29.99/month ( Up to 40MB/s download speed, Up to 10Mb/s upload, 50 GB data per month, 5:1 Contention ratio, Public IP address included)
Fibre 100 – £34.99/month ( Up to 80MB/s download speed, Up to 20Mb/s upload, 100 GB data per month, 5:1 Contention ratio, Public IP address included)
Fibre 200 – £39.99/month ( Up to 80MB/s download speed, Up to 20Mb/s upload, 200 GB data per month, 5:1 Contention ratio, Public IP address included)
Fibre Unlimited – £57.99/month ( Up to 80MB/s download speed, Up to 20Mb/s upload, Unlimited GB data per month, 5:1 Contention ratio, Public IP address included)
Note: Actual speeds are estimated before we place an order. We generally recommend Fibre 100 unless you estimated speed is less than 40Mb/s, where Fibre 50 may suffice. 100GB per month is generally more than adequate for most businesses.
If you are comparing prices, remember that Residentail products generally have poorer customer service and high contention ratio of around 25:1 or even 50:1 for many of the really cheap deals so you are sharing your bandwidth with up to 25 or 50 other lines/customers in your area.

If you have recently installed Windows 8 you may find some of the following shortcuts are useful, particularly if you find using the Mouse to get the Charms (Right hand side menu) to pop up very frustrating.
The Charms menu shortcut (Windows key + C) is a lifesaver for anyone remote controlling Windows 8, especially if you have dual monitors, as it’s impossible to get the menu to pop up any other way – Thanks Microsoft! This article I found has useful guidance on creating PDF’s from Office applications such as Word, Excel and other MS Office applications.
It is also possible to save as a PDF in Office 2007, but you will need to download and install the Free Microsoft Add-in here:
For other applications, we also find Cute PDF a useful tool, as it works as a printer. If you can print what you need, then you can also create a PDF from it using this tool.
